Distribute Your Quality Content with Contextual Links to Gain Search Rank

Thursday, June 21st, 2012

Short while ago google had changed their ranking algorithm,   the reason cited is that google wanted to provide more relevant results, on official google blog it is estimated 11.8% search results will be affected by this update, in another word, almost 12% of google search results are useless or of low quality. Google started this change almost one year ago, and recently I see some of my ranks were lowered considerably, on the other hand almost all keywords promoted by contextual links are not affected, some of the keywords even ranked better than before, it’s safe to say that old way of link building is doomed.

So what exactly is linking campaign the old way? There are a lot of SEO company out there are doing this, they add your links to those linking websites without context, the only updates on those websites are the new links, almost all of them are garbage, the name of link spamming sites is justified. Now google algorithm probably will weed out these sites, the links on those spamming sites won’t work anymore.

Let’s check out a few examples. In the very beginning, I didn’t know better, I needed to rank the keyword, http://www.mfrexpress.com/cargo-control-winch-accessories-c-2_6.html, at that time almost every body was doing plain linking campaign, lately I figured that every site in the campaign had way too many links, worst yet, those sites had no content at all. I would give credit where credit is due, this linking strategy worked, finally the rank improved a lot, the party was over when google updated it’s algorithm. Something opposite happened to this keyword, chain pullers, we promoted this keyword with articles and blog posts, with very few plain links, now we have really good ranking for this keyword. Old and outdated linking campaign lost to content linking, what’s next? It all boils down to content, when you create unique and quality content, your rank will improve over time, since search engines are another kind of readers. How do you do it? Writing articles and building blogs, take a look at this blog, top smartphones , I didn’t put too much effort into it from start, but I never stopped posting, and to my surprise, I have high ranks for some of  competitive keywords. As far as SEO concerned, quality article marketing is much better than plain link building. If you can build a group of your own blogs, for instance http://www.mfrexpress.com/towing-tie-down-c-24_118.html, then it will be easier to do article marketing.

At the end of day all you need to do is to create quality content, share the content with people, promote your business with the content, this strategy will prevail in short or long term. The virtues, persistence and patience, are essential for your success, you shouldn’t expect things to improve overnight, i.e., selling online or improve your search rankings, let’s keep building and maintaining our blogs until end of the day. One of the best articles directories is EzineArticle, new article will be indexed within an hour if not minutes, and some popular blogs will get your post indexed in minutes, there venues are ideal for promoting your site, I believe you should see for yourself, let’s look at this one, Tow Chains , good writing, interesting content, indexed and cached, this article serves it’s purpose well.

Last but not least, if you don’t take social media account, you’re lost. For wordpress blogs, I recommend twitter tools, get a twitter account and API keys, link your blog to twitter, then make sure every new post will post a new tweet, it’s easy and really useful, no one should miss this tool out.
